My Pug-nosed Dream

Did anybody hear the snippet of "Polkadots and Moonbeams" by the Hot Club of Cowtown this morning on NPR? God bless the Hot Club! If you haven't heard them, they're a retro-Western Swing band that ranges from old-time fiddle tunes to hot guitar jazz and country classics. They're fantastic live, and I strongly recommend you see them if you can.

Elana Fremerman, their amazing fiddler, is a big reason that I'm studying fiddle myself. She has a very distinctive style, blending old-time, country, jazz, and gypsy sounds. I remember sitting in their house concert last year at Pine Hill Farm when I realized I wanted to "marry a fiddle player." (Yeah, I know....) Anyway, later I realized that I wanted to be a fiddle player, and then I could marry whoever I wanted. (But I'm still partial to fiddle players....)

I played the fiddle when I was little...does that count? :)

That's cool! I didn't know that. But no, it doesn't count! ;-)

Oh, Larry. I always hoped you were different... Turns out you're like the other guys... You just want a girl who knows her way around a g-string.

Hell yeah, and a D and an A and an E-string too!
