Boots Like Emmylou's

Posted by Larry Karnowski at December 20, 2002 3:20 PM

My friend Amy, who remembered this post about the Emmylou boots auctioned on eBay, sent me this great song lyric from Janis Ian:

BOOTS LIKE EMMY LOU'S
(Janis Ian)

IF I HAD BOOTS LIKE EMMY LOU'S
I'D BE A COUNTRY STAR
WITH RHINESTONES ON MY BVD'S
AND A HUMMINGBIRD GUITAR
I'D BUY MYSELF THE BIGGEST BUS
THAT EVER GRACED THE TRACK
WITH A LOVESEAT FOR THE TWO OF US
AND A SWIMMING POOL IN BACK

IF I HAD BOOTS LIKE EMMY LOU'S
I'D WEAR MY HAIR LIKE LORETTA USED TO DO
I'D SING LIKE PATSY CLINE
AND KITTY WELLS COMBINED
IF I HAD BOOTS LIKE EMMY LOU'S
I'D NEVER NEED A SHINE

Damn, I gotta hear this song now. I first heard of Janis Ian through her support of MP3 downloads (first article and then the followup). Hmm, maybe she's got the MP3 on her website? I'll have to go check later.

Nice song, Larry. :-) IIRC, she actually wrote it for her performance at Endercon this past summer. I was at that concert, and it was fabulous. This song was a big hit.
