Various and Sundry from 2002

Posted by Larry Karnowski at January 5, 2003 10:25 AM

Here's a list (in no particular order) of many amazing CDs that I discovered last year, but that didn't actually get released in 2002, so they couldn't be included in the top 25. (God bless run-on sentences.)

The Dillards - There Is A Time (Greatest Hits)
Scott Miller and the Commonwealth - Thus Always to Tyrants
Scott Miller - R U With Me?
White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Robbie Fulks - Country Love Songs
Charlatans UK - Us and Us Only
The Waybacks - Devolver
Gillian Welch - Hell Among the Yearlings
Gillian Welch - Revival
Gram Parsons - GP/Grievous Angel
Various Artists - Return of the Grievous Angel (tribute to Gram Parsons)
Reeltime Travelers - Reeltime Old-time Stringband Music
Del McCoury Band - Del and the Boys
Clandestine - Music from Home
Wilco - Summer Teeth
Robinella and the CCStringBand - No Saint, No Prize
Robinella and the CCStringBand - Robinella and the CCStringBand

And finally here's some CDs that I heard lots about and should have bought but just never got around to. (God bless ending a sentence with a preposition.)
Kasey Chambers - Barricades and Brickwalls
Kelly Willis - Easy
Greg Trooper - Between a House and a Hard Place: Live at Pine Hill Farm/McGonigel's Mucky Duck
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

I don't see larry, Larry, LARRY! on that list... and BTW, I have copied BARRICADES & BRICKWALLS for you... it is already in an envelope ready to send...

Thanks Saundra! And listen up RIAA, if she sends me that album, and I like it (which of course I will!), I will BUY my OWN copy! Phhtththththt! That's how this stuff works, ya know? No, that's right, you don't know.

And Saundra, I didn't have a list for "favorite mixed CDs of 2002," but I'm pretty sure "larry, Larry, LARRY!" would have made it into, say, the top 100, I guess. ;-) J/K, thanks for the mix!

I didn't buy Miss Chambers' cd either... a buddy of mine works for Warner Bros. so he gave me a copy... So there! HA HA!
