Tiny Bits of Spam on Toothpicks
Posted by Larry Karnowski at January 21, 2003 7:10 PMA very interesting article from the Washington Post about the history of FM radio and the new XM (satellite) radio's attempts to dethrone it. It basically goes into a lot of detail of why today's FM stations suck so badly. They "taste like tiny bits of spam stuck on toothpicks." Indeed.
One caveat -- although this article reads extremely well for a longer article and seems to be very well researched -- he put the Dixie Chicks in the same category of corporate evil as Celine Dion. I almost stopped reading. It's obvious he hasn't heard the Chick's new album in all it's Bluegrass and old-school country glory. I'm pretty sure he meant "Shania Twain" or "Faith Hill" and not the Chicks.
