If You Were Here
Posted by Larry Karnowski at February 13, 2003 4:33 PMOkay, despite the fact that I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day, here's a riddle:
Why do I consider If You Were Here by the Thompson Twins a romantic song? No using Google, you cheats! Here's a hint, it's not because of the lyrics...
If You Were Here by the Thompson Twins:
if you were here
i could deceive you
and if you were here
you would believe
but would you suspect
my emotion wandering, yeah
do not want a part of this anymore
The rain water drips
through a crack in the ceiling
and i'll have to spend
my time on repair
But just like the rain
i'll be always falling, yeah
only to rise and fall again
By the way, I don't have anything against love or romance, per se, actually I'm a big, big fan. It's just compulsory romance and purchasing that tends to annoy me.... but I digress.
Larry, if you think this means you don't have to buy me the box of chocklits you are wrong!
Posted by: Amy at February 13, 2003 6:13 PMValentine's Day BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Saundra at February 13, 2003 11:05 PMAmy -- you just proved my point! ;-)
Saundra -- I WISH! (Oops, did I say that out loud?!?) ;-)
And I still don't hear any answers to my riddle!
Posted by: larry at February 14, 2003 8:15 AMAnd for those at home -- no, Amy isn't my sweetie, she's just *A* sweetie. So all you guys with an extra box of chocklit, Amy's number (for a good time!) is (###)###-####! [CENSORED]
Posted by: larry at February 14, 2003 8:17 AMLarry, that's the sort of thing that convinced me to actually use the caller ID I was already paying for.
Actually, any day is a good day to get Amy chocklits.
And, if I can take a guess at the song, I think the reason has something to do with a certain movie? Perhaps a John Hughes one? Although why that movie would hold such a romantic place in your heart, I have no clue...
Posted by: Amy at February 14, 2003 10:17 AMHmmm, Amy is definitely getting close... and yeah, that particular movie is more of a comedy than a romance, definitely. Oops, giving it all away!
Posted by: larry at February 14, 2003 12:59 PMI agree with Saundra. Buffet Sucks.
Posted by: Shane at February 14, 2003 1:16 PMDon't mess with me on the 80s movies. I will crush you.
Posted by: Amy at February 15, 2003 11:34 AMDid I say anything about Buffet?
Posted by: Saundra at February 16, 2003 4:04 AMSaundra, no, you have to just ignore Shane (like I do). He's a few french fries short of a Happy Meal.
Posted by: larry at February 16, 2003 9:54 AMToo bad... I like Happy Meals...
Posted by: Saundra at February 16, 2003 3:45 PMI agree with Saundra again! Happy Meals Rock! And Buffett still sucks (Jimmy, not Warren)
Posted by: Shane O. at February 17, 2003 5:35 PMCheeseburger, Hamburger, or chicken nuggets?
And, for the record, I like Jimmy Buffett...
Posted by: Saundra at February 17, 2003 10:42 PMHamburger, Nuggets, Cheeseburger, Buffett - in order of preference.
Posted by: Shane at February 19, 2003 9:23 AMI think this is where we part ways then... nuggets before a cheeseburger?!! Are you crazy??!!!!!
Posted by: Saundra at February 19, 2003 4:34 PMAccording to my therapist: no. However, it appears the state and federal authorities seem to disagree.
Cheeseburgers are fine. However, pasteurized processed cheese food slices melted on a pre-fab "beef" patty aren't my idea of a cheeseburger. Granted, nuggets are a far cry from chicken, but at least they started out as chicken. McDonald's "cheese" on the other hand...
Posted by: Shane at February 20, 2003 9:33 AMThe only thing in a McNugget that was *MAYBE* ever on/in a chicken is the part of the beak that is ground up in there. Most of the time they aren't even ground up all that well. ICK! Give me "cheese" any day!
