Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Posted by Larry Karnowski at July 30, 2003 10:42 AM

I've listened to Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot CD a few times, and I just couldn't get into it. The entire No Depression/Alt Country scene seemed to be all gaga over it (even though they're no longer an alt country band), and Amazon.com listed it as their users' pick for CD of the Year for 2002. However, I just couldn't get into it.

Until this morning.... Wow, something just clicked. It's really a great album. Stick with it if it doesn't click for you at first. Still not my favorite Wilco album -- yet. (I'd still recommend Radiohead's Hail to the Thief over just about any album I've bought this year. IT ROCKS!)

Told ya so.

I love the opening of "Jesus, Etc." so much. So, so much that I'll often flip the track back to the beginning over and over without letting the song play through sometimes.

My other favorite cuts are "Heavy Metal Drummer" and "I'm the Man Who Loves You".

Yes, I should've given a big shout-out to you Amy, sorry! Amy was definitely getting on to me to keep listening to this CD, and it paid off!
