New Saint John

Posted by Larry Karnowski at September 12, 2003 11:15 AM

A quote from Doug Williams II from the band No-Evil posted to the Guitartown mailing list:

"Today there's a new Saint John. He's the patron saint of those who struggle. Those who are entrenched in the battle between good and evil, and those who try to understand it as he does. Those who work for justice and truth. Saint to prisoners, saint to sinners, and saint to those who wear the skin off of their hands working for those who never have and never will. No rhinestones, no glitter, and no golden halo; his wings are black- to represent the downtrodden all the world over. He stands behind those who refuse to back down and gives them traction in their stance. He holds out his hand to those who need help to stand. He sings to give comfort and strength to those who no one will comfort."

This is kinda affecting me more than I thought it would... I need to get out of the office and see some sunshine...

Oh, your site is a nice tribute, Larry. I've been all bummed about it, too. I'd planned to wear black the day Johnny Cash died, but of course it happened when I was in vacation (in Atlanta) and hadn't packed any black. But I did mope the whole day. Coincidentally, I'd brought a Cash greatest hits CD with me for the road trip, one I don't usually take along. But I wasn't ready to listen to it until late yesterday on the way back to DC, just too sad.
