Diga Diga Doo Mix (Feb Mix 2, Oh So Twangy)
Posted by Larry Karnowski at February 14, 2004 1:34 PMNow here's the second playlist, which is much better, in my humble opinion.
1) Diga Diga Doo - Hot Club of Cowtown
2) Ida Red - Hot Club of Cowtown
3) The Girl I Left Behind Me - Hot Club of Cowtown
4) Orange Blossom Special - Hot Club of Cowtown (OMG!!! This is the most amazing version of this song!!)
5) Untitled - Hot Club of Cowtown (the great "secret" song on their live album... too damn funny)
6) Bury Me - Dwight Yoakam (These are all from dwightyoakamacoustic.net, his solo acoustic album. Don't bother going to that web address. He doesn't own it. Why did he name his album that? No clue.)
7) I'll Be Gone - Dwight Yoakam
8) This Drinkin' Will Kill Me - Dwight Yoakam
9) Jolene - Mindy Smith (from the Dolly Parton tribute album)
10) To Daddy - Emmylou Harris (again, from the Dolly album)
11) I'd Rather Have You - Thad Cockrell
12) Warmth & Beauty - Thad Cockrell
13) Misery Feeling Again - Thad Cockrell
14) Deep Red Bells - Neko Case (a spooky one, about the Green River killer)
15) Look For Me (I'll Be Around) - Neko Case
16) Stinging Velvet - Neko Case
17) I Wish I Was The Moon - Neko Case
18) Wayfaring Stranger - Jack White (that's right, the White Stripes guy on the Cold Mountain soundtrack! weird)
19) Like A Songbird That Has Fallen - Reeltime Travelers (I LOVE the Travelers! I'm so glad they made it onto the Cold Mountain soundtrack! I'm looking forward to seeing them at Merlefest this year too!)
20) The Scarlet Tide - Alison Krauss (despite this song's unfortunate resemblance to Bama's Crimson Tide, I really like it) (life-long UT fan, sorry... will always pull against Bama)
21) Never Far Away - Jack White (hello, Paul McCartney called, he wants his GREAT song back, Jack)
22) Friend Of The Devil - Lyle Lovett (YES! Coulda been faster, but still great!)
You can't go wrong hatin' Bama. I might have married a Bama grad, but that doesn't mean I have to be nice to him during football season.
I offer this: Mindy Smith's "Jolene" is oooooh-kaaaay, but Dolly Parton's original, and Rhonda Vincent's cover, are way better, in my humble opinion.
Once again, after reading your blog I have a date with iTunes when I get home from work tonight. :)
Posted by: Stacy at February 15, 2004 12:28 PMInterestingly, if you search for "Thad Cockrell" on iTunes, as I just did, it asks you if maybe you didn't mean "Toad Cocktail"?
Uh ... no. But thanks (?)
Posted by: Stacy at February 18, 2004 6:39 PMOh how the mighty have fallen. What happen to you Larry?
Posted by: urpster at February 23, 2004 8:59 PMEh? Huh? ;-) What's up Urpster? Where's the love?
Posted by: larry at February 24, 2004 9:12 AMI thought it would take you a bit longer to realize who I was. Define what you mean by love. "where is the love" in regards to your musical selection or "love" meaning my wife.
Posted by: urpster at February 24, 2004 3:23 PMDude, I have A) No clue who you are, but you obviously know me, and B) no clue what you are talking about.
"Where's the love?" -- As in, "Why are you dissing my music tastes!" Speak up already! ;-)
Posted by: larry at February 24, 2004 3:48 PMyou would be suprised what you can learn about someone with just a telescope. Digging through their trash helps too. :)
