REI Dividend
Posted by Larry Karnowski at March 5, 2004 8:44 AMThat's right, I'm a card-carryin' fan of REI (the Recreational Equipment, Inc. outdoor sporting goods store and co-op). I just got my yearly dividend back from the REI co-op, and I'm ready to spend it. On what you might ask? My very first pair of my own rock-climbing shoes! I'm pretty excited.
I know I'm going to buy 'em, and I know where I'm buyin' 'em, but I gots no clue as to what to buy. I'm getting some advice from the NC R.O.C.K mailing list, but if you've got some advice for a beginner, please post it! ;-)
Also, if you're an outdoor enthusiast, being an REI member is a pretty good idea. I'm going to buy a pair of rock-climbing shoes, which go for about $100 normally. Using my dividend during March though gives me a 20% discount. (Cha-ching!) And then I've got $40-something dividend, which will get me the $100 shoes for less than $40. Not bad. ;-)
I got my dividend back this week: a whopping $2.57!
I'm so happy, I don't know what I'll spend it all on!

Still, REI is a great place to go shopping for outdoorsy stuff
Posted by: Bill at March 5, 2004 12:09 PMI got back about $12. Still, with that 20% off, I'm trying to figure out what to get. :-)
