A Goddess Brighter
Posted by Larry Karnowski at March 9, 2004 8:55 AMSo, I think my crushing on the mythical Coffee Shop Girl is pretty well known. This is not one particular coffee shop girl worker, but instead the archetype, the goddess, if you will -- Coffee Shop Girl. She embodies all that is divine about her followers. This "worship" has been going on for quite some time now, since at least early college if not earlier.
But now, Coffee Shop Girl has been eclipsed, pushed away, by the brightness of the newest goddess in my pantheon -- REI Woman.
Last Saturday I went to spend my REI dividend on some sweet rock-climbing shoes. In my trek out to Durham's new Southpoint REI store, I was aided by two, count 'em two followers of the sweet, sweet REI Goddess. One was very nice, but the other was pretty much my dream girl. Bright, cheerful, fun, and outdoorsy! Wonder if she likes the Bluegrass? ;-)
Don't worry, I know they're paid to be nice to me! I'm not a creep! But I can still crush.
Nothing creepy about it! I have a Borders boyfriend (who doesn't know he's my boyfriend) who notices I come in a lot and helps me find CDs I'm looking for. He's dreamy.

And I have a friend that married Coffee Shop Girl. Turned out good for him.
