Tired of Sex
Posted by Larry Karnowski at March 27, 2004 2:05 PMBy Weezer (written by Rivers Cuomo)
I'm tired, so tired
I'm tired of having sex (so tired)
I'm spread so thin
I don't know who I am (who I am)
Monday night I'm makin' Jen
Tuesday night I'm makin' Lynn
Wednesday night I'm makin' Catherine
Oh, why can't I be makin' Love come true?
I'm beat, beet red
ashamed of what I said (what I said)
Oh, I'm sorry, here I go
I know I'm a sinner
But I can't say no (say no)
Thursday night I'm makin' Denise
Friday night I'm makin' Sharise
Saturday night I'm makin' Louise
Oh, why can't I be makin' Love come true? (what's a guy to do?)
tonight, I'm down on my knees
tonight, I'm beggin' you please
tonight, tonight, please
Oh why, can't I be makin' love come true?
I freakin' love this song! The sunshine comes out, and I gotta drag out the Weezer! (Okay, okay, since I got my iPod, there's no draggin' out anything anymore. It just sounds better than, "I gotta hit Browse, Artist, scroll down to Weezer, scroll down to Pinkerton, and hit play.")
Pinkerton has gotta be one of the best albums that came out while I was in college, but I didn't realize it at the time. I don't know why, but when it came out -- I just didn't like it that much. Maybe I was over Weezer at that point, but most likely, I was just too young to get it. I was --what, 20?-- and it's got more of an upper-twenty-something-geek-male theme to it that I just wasn't ready for, I guess. (But NOW! Stand back!)
I ended up loaning my copy to the Urpster and never asked for it back. (You still got that one, Keith?) I came across this album again a year or two ago when Evil Jason made me listen to it. And then, WOW!!! I immediately went out and bought it again, along with all the rest of the Weezer catalog.
All their stuff is good stuff, but Pinkerton is by far the best. Most of its songs are very personal and self-reflecting geek-rock ballads (but not all as funny as this one). I'm afraid Pinkerton'll always be their best though, since Rivers said he'd never release so personal an album ever again. But you just never can tell.
Actually Larry you said the album sucked and gave it to me. I do agree though that I always felt Pinkerton was one of their best. I also like to listen to The Living Ends first album on sunny days. With in Socal is all the time.

Posted by: urpster at March 27, 2004 5:09 PMAh! Is that what I did! Yeah, I didn't like it back then. You were welcome to it! ;-)

Posted by: urpster at March 27, 2004 6:19 PMThat the was night we all met up at Mandarin Garden. The infamous Larry Potato incident. You also were talking trash about the place with the waiter standing right behind you the whole time. We just kept handing you the rope. I always remember minute details, itrs like a semi-selective photographic memory.
