Another Jam
Posted by Larry Karnowski at April 13, 2004 11:50 PMSo James and I jammed with Shane after work today (damn he's gettin' good on that banjo) -- playing a little Bluegrass. We each played our lead instruments but took turns on the guitar. And then when Shane had to leave we adjourned over to James' place for the not-so-Bluegrass pickin'.
We ended up concentrating on four songs, of which we need LOTS of work (well *I* do anyway):
* Warmth & Beauty by Thad Cockrell, a local alt-country guy; I'm singing lead and playing guitar, and James sings tenor and plays the mandolin leads
* Oh My Sweet Carolina, by Ryan Adams; James sings and plays guitar, and I play vocal fills and leads on the fiddle
* Amtrak Crescent, by Scott Miller, the freakin' MAN; same arrangement as the Thad song
* and lastly Sunday Morning Comin' Down, by Johnny Cash, excuse me, THE MAN; both on guitars, with James singing lead and me on tenor
Lots of fun! Still lots of work to do to make those songs sound good, but it'll be fun working on 'em. I can't wait till Merlefest!! Less than two weeks!
'Wrote you a note, but it was erased, I think.
You don't know me, but I stumbled across your journal while searching vertigo and Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. You had that awhile back, I guess. I was wanting to know whatever happened with you regarding that.
It pretty much sucks and I feel ridiculous. Driving is like playing a video game and I veer off to one side sometimes. Beh. They gave me a prescription for medicine for symptoms, but I am pretty much a straight edge girl and don't want to get addicted. If you have some time, and don't mind, I would love to hear more about your dizzy era, if you still experience it, what the medicine was like yadda, yadda, ya....I would much appreciate it.
Thank you!
