Unemployment: Weeks 1 & 2

Posted by Larry Karnowski at June 7, 2004 9:05 AM

Okay, sorry to have been away so long. I think I've dissected the first two weeks of unemployment as such:

Week 1: The Shock Week -- "WTF?!?!? I'M UNEMPLOYED!?!?!?"
Week 2: The Slack Week -- "Ah, wtf... I'm unemployed...."

And, now, I'm starting week three:
Week 3: The Snack Week -- "Wtf? I'm getting hungry... hmm, probably start looking for some gainful employment."

And that's about how it went. The first week out was spent hanging out with friends (or helping them move), talking about what went wrong, how we could've changed it, what we'd do differently if we could do it again, etc. I worked a little on my resume, but to be honest, I just wasn't ready to digest the best three-plus years of my career into a few paragraphs just yet.

The second week was spent in a sort of wine, women, and song sort of way. (Where "wine" is read "cheap to decent beer," and "women" is read "geeking out with Neverwinter Nights.") My sleep schedule got all out of whack, I stopped excercising, and I've been dehydrated all week. Good times.

But now, my friends, I woke up at a decent, albeit not early enough, hour this morning, went for my morning walk, and am now blogging. I'm back in the saddle again. I'll be finishing up some chores this morning, most importantly wrapping up my resume. I'm not going to make it perfect this morning, just good enough to send to a couple of early leads. I figure I can tweak it as I go.

Alright, y'all, wish me luck!

Larry, look on the bright side (about the wine, women and song), at least you know where the whores are in Neverwinter! Oh, and you don't get poison ivy when you work out in the yard. Shame, women really dig that!

Ha, Neverwinter Nights will never do you wrong, my friend, nor will it nag at you to do the dishes or cut your hair. Not that I know, of course. Because I'm too cool for NWN.

Also, I'm too busy playing Star Wars: Jedi Academy. Yes.

Good to hear. Seth has asked how things were going with you, and I didn't know what to tell him. I said you were MIA. He'll be happy for the update on you.

Email me your address and I'll send you the doubles of Seth's pictures from last July with all you boys and Cassidy together!

Yes, Larry we were all getting worried there for awhile, but I'm glad you took some time off for yourself before jumping into it. Good luck with the job search, and see you real soon!

Oh yeah, great fade out music by the way!!!

love ya!

Stacy, I've never had a woman nag me to cut my hair. In fact, I've had many nag me to let my hair GROW OUT again. You see, I used to be this long-haired, curly-headed hippie in high school and college. The lasses pine for this, I fear.

(This of course, was before my hair line receded about half an inch and my hair got a little thinner. Thankfully I won't go bald like my Dad, but my hair will go "Possum Blonde" like my Papaw used to say. I'll be gray-headed by 35, you wait. But no more creeping hairline or hairloss... I promise.) ;-)

As for NWN, alas, Jason, the place I'm playing (www.dambrath.com) is missing the, uh, "colorful" ladies of the night that Pool of Radiance had. ;-) Never been a cyber-perv anyway, much to the contrary of my humorous reputation on Bugzilla. (Thank you Ben, you ass.)

Becki, send them pictures away, please! I'll post em if I can. (I've got nary a scanner, though, pity.)

Mom, I'm carryin' on! And thanks, Cass, for the words of encouragement.
