Back In The Saddle Again (Again)
Posted by Larry Karnowski at June 30, 2004 11:14 AMOkay, well I guess if ol' Dr. 'Zilla can awake from the dead, I suppose I can too. Here it is -- a catch-up blog entry!
I've been completely addicted to The Lands of Dambrath, a very fun persistant world for Neverwinter Nights run by some quality folks who know what the hell they're doing. I've also got the Racoon Fink into it too. Albeit he's a much saner individual than I am when it comes to NWN. (Although not on much else.)
I've gotten back into my old giddy-up-and-go mentality this week. I've already posted several resumes, had a few phone-calls, and am scheduling lunches and get-togethers through the week. No more idle sitting around (and NWNing) for this boy. I'm trying to avoid the unemployment stereotype I was quickly becoming. ;-) I'm back to regular sleeping habits and walking/jogging every morning. I feel much better!
Last Friday was a get-together over at Weave's where I got to hang out with a bunch of Oculanders and hold Weave's newborn baby, Ana. She's so sweet! Then Sunday night I went to Shaneo's to jam with him, James, and our friend Pat. Good times.
Last night James and I went to the open-mic night at the Six String Cafe to case the joint. We think we'll probably be up there in a couple of weeks. I couldn't ask anyone to come and sit through it, though. I'm sure we'd do alright, but some of the folks there... damn. Well it's an open-mic, what do you expect? At least there were a few decent folks to listen to, and the beer was good, as usual. We bailed early though... only so much you can stand.
Let's see, what else? I've been setting up a sweet development environment with my network at the House of Bastardville. I'm really enjoying it. NFS & NIS kick ass! It's great having lots of different operating systems to choose from and yet have a single home directory. Geek joy! I'm setting up one of my Linux servers and my workstation to have several Linux flavors to boot from. I've got RedHat 9, RedHat 7.3, and Whitebox 3.0 so far. I'll add Fedora Core 2 soon, and maybe cAos or something. I'm wanting to get an OpenNMS development environment going since I can actually contribute to it again. We'll see.
Anyway, I gotta get back to this technical test I was taking for a job offer I'm interested in. I gotta finish writing my code! I was just taking a break for a bit. I hope to make more frequent (and shorter) blog posts again now.
(I'm BAAAACK in the saddle again... I'm BAAAAAACKK)
(Okay, I promise that's the last time I'll use the Dennis Miller/Aerosmith saddle gimmick. I just love it!)
Hmm, not sure what any of that means, but I'm glad you're happy! :)
Good luck with the job chasing, give 'em hell (but in a professional manner).

Also, there is a great picture of her with a big smile. Just check the my blog for July 1st. The link to the picture is at the bottom of my entry.
