10th of July Party at the HOB
Posted by Larry Karnowski at July 12, 2004 2:41 PMOur 4th of July party didn't get itself together in time, so this past Saturday we had a 10th of July party instead! It was great! The House of Bastardville was looking good due to Ben's and your's truly's efforts of clean-itude, and the food and everything came off perfect due to Cynthia's planning! Shout out to Cyn for the Sterno Smores! Damn! And to Courtney for her unnamed beverage of woe!
As usual, beer consumption was high, mixed drink consumption miserably low. I'll have to do something to jumpstart that next time.... still no clue. Anyway, a good time was had by all, DESPITE the fact that we picked Bluegrass for a good hour or more! (LOTSA fun for ME anyway!)
And thankfully, Ben and Cynthia took some pictures, and Kirsten did too. Can't wait for the next one!
Looks like a real fine hootenanny! I've been rediscovering my mandolin lately, so maybe one day I'll get to jam, too. : )
Posted by: Stacy at July 12, 2004 7:29 PMWoohoo mandolin! You need to find some local pickin' places up there in D.C. and start hanging out. It's a little intimidating at first, but all of the places I've been have always been VERY happy to have "them young folks" at the jam.
Beware the asshole-fiddlers, though. It seems that every jam has at least one part-time. However, they don't seem to annoy non-fiddlers as much, so you may be fine. ;-)
We'll pick some at Merlefest '05! And music lessons (from a competent Bluegrasser) are worth their weight in CDs.
