Tift's New Lineup, Etc

Posted by Larry Karnowski at July 16, 2004 2:06 PM

So I'd heard this on the Tift fan list, but this article confirms it -- Dave Wilson and Greg Readling, two of my favorite Carbines (Tift's backing band) have quit to focus on my other favorite Raleigh band -- Chatham County Line. God bless both these bands, and I hope they both do well. CCL has got to be the best young Bluegrass (with a sorta honky-tonk bent) band I've ever heard. And of course, the Mighty John Teer (their mandolin/fiddle player) rocks my world.

Can't wait for Tift's new album, Tambourine! Mark your calenders my T's, K's, and CA's, it's August 24th!

The article also mentions that "Go! Room 4" is closing down. That was a neat little venue, but I'll admit to only having gone once. They tended to get the newest of the new bands, and weren't always to my tastes. The only time I went was to see Trailer Bride a couple of years ago. It was a great show and a neat venue. Sorry to hear they've closed, but this wasn't as big a blow as the Brewery shutting down. (That was Whiskeytown's home bar for a good long while.... alas.)

BTW, the Brewery is open again if you didn't know. I don't know if it has the same owner, but they do have bands play there...
