The New Guy
Posted by Larry Karnowski at July 27, 2004 11:20 PMI've had several people ask me about how the new job's going, so I figured I should blog about it.
To be brief, I'll summarize thusly:
* I hate being the new guy.
* I still miss Oculan, terribly.
* The people at the new job absolutely rock.
* Every day has been lots better than the one before it. I'm picking stuff up quickly, I think.
* I still freaking detest being the new guy. I hate not knowing what to do, or who to ask for help. Or just freaking having to ask for help! I was the guy people asked for help, not the other way around. Sheesh. Having to rely on others to get up to speed and inconveniencing them really hurts my pride. I can't wait to be self-sufficient. It's my #1 goal.
* I'm making some new friends, and I'm glad for it. (And I know they read this blog, so I'm just gonna say, you guys rock.)
Fair enough? I've got my head up, and I'm trying to make the past the past. Not always easy, but there's motion. I'm glad to have ended up somewhere so challenging and (so far) supportive. There's a definite Ocu-vibe about it, and I've thanked God for that several times. It's a salve to the unemployed soul, you know.
I think I may just take work too seriously.
