Watching the Mail

Posted by Larry Karnowski at January 21, 2005 9:30 AM

So I'm watching the mail next week! Mom's sending me my last Christmas present, a Radio Shark by Griffin Technologies. Think of it as a "TiVo for the radio!" I'm going to be recording some serious Back Porch Music, Thistle & Shamrock, and the Pinecone Bluegrass Show at the very least. I think I'll get some cool Indie Rock shows off of WKNC too. Any other suggestions, anyone? Anyone? Bueler? I figure this is one more way to put my little best friend, my iPod, to work. I can listen to my radio shows whenever I want!

(Oh, and for the record, Fiona Ritchie has the sexiest speaking voice ever.)

But I'm also watching the mail for my latest Amazon shipment. Since the Christmas and birthday season buying-hiatus is over, I'm catching up on some CDs! I bought the following:

* The Virginian by Neko Case & Her Boyfriends
* The Very Best of Robbie Fulks by Robbie Fulks
* Oh, Inverted World by The Shins (I love their song New Slang from the Garden State soundtrack!) (Go Stacy!)
* Mass Romantic by The New Pornographers (more Neko Case goodness!)
* Good News For People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse

It was so hard to stop there! I really want the other Neko and New Pornographers albums too, and the Franz Ferdinand CD, and I keep hearing good things about the Killers although I've not heard them... and the new Wilco CD! And Rilo Kiley! And... and... (See!?! Getting it down to just five was difficult!)

I really want to hear how well the Radioshark works for you as it looks like a great little gadget. I am still exploring Neko Case's music, but I bought and very much liked Blacklisted. I think I may have to buy a ticket for her show in February.

I bought the single 'Somebody Told Me' by the Killers, but on first listen, the album as a whole wasn't terribly interesting, but I didn't give it much time.

Hello My Name Is Shaneo And I Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word AND I Spell "Night" As "Nite" (And Leave Off Punctuation Too)

But woe to the blogger who misspells or has bad English grammar in his blog stories -- for I shall smite him asunder!

:-P

(And yes, that song is great! I get this campfire/sing-along sort of feel from it... is that just me? It makes me think of camping and sparks flying up from a fire at night, everyone gathered round with guitars...)

I wanted music I could play LOUD, so I picked up Franz Ferdinand, the Killers, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The Saturn's a rockin' with all the good LOUD music.

BTW, Neko Case is coming to Atlanta in February. You might want to see if she's slipping over to your neck of the woods, too.
