Still Heartbroken

Posted by Larry Karnowski at February 25, 2005 9:58 AM

Well, I'm guessing you're here looking for Right Turn Clyde MP3s of our stellar open mic performance last Tuesday night at the Six String. We think we did a pretty good job. However, we really don't know for sure, since the sound guy botched our CD burn and I ended up buying a $5 frisbee.

Don't fret too much, as I have my crack information technology staff working on it (i.e. the genius Racoon Fink). But then don't get your hopes up too high either, as he and I have little hope in recovering anything. If we do, I'll of course post them here.

We rocked the house, though. We started with Pat singing a sped-up version of Keith Whitley's Don't Close Your Eyes, a terribly sad song that we speed up till it rocks. Then I sang (I guess my "signature" song) Hickory Wind. We do that one real slow and sad, with lots of harmony from Shane and Pat. Then we played Long Time Gone, the Darrell Scott & Tim O'Brien tune of Dixie Chicks fame. That's the "money song" according to James. I sang that one too.

All in all, a lot of fun, but we're not sure we're going to play there much anymore. The other folks are really nice, but now it's gone back to a random play order schedule. It's hard on us to get a crowd together to sit through so many other random acts. Some are great, most are tolerable, but some downright sucked. Oh well. That's the beauty of live music. ;-)

Since the Right Turn Clyde's are a recording-friendly band, we encourage any of our fans w/ bootlegs of this event to consider selling it back to us. We're prepared to make offers in the high single figures for quality stuff.

Hey Larry, I just now listened to the Right Turn Clydes' songs that you had linked. I don't know how I missed them earlier, other than it was posted on my travel day into the future. But I thought that I checked back on your previous posts, obviously not back far enough.

I really enjoyed them. Good Job! I may have to make a weekend trip over to your neck of the woods and listen to you guys live and up close.

Hey Larry, we just listened to the MP3 of you singing Wagon Wheel, we LOVED it. You do sound good as a bluegrass singer. The band sounded good too. I want to hear you sing Long Time Gone though. I love that song! Andy Uncle Frank is right, we all need to come hear a live performance. Love you miss you!
