Greetings from Merlefest 2005!
Posted by Larry Karnowski at May 1, 2005 12:59 AMHey all! I'm here, up late on a Saturday night (Sunday morning), but not at the Midnight Jam, at Merlefest 2005. I should've been blogging all week long from Pete Wernick's Jam Camp and the earlier days of Merlefest, but alas, I was too distracted by picking and jamming and listening to great music!
Anyway, I've been taking notes and will get you a big report as soon as I get back. I hope to put up some stuff on Sunday night and then finish up during the week.
But here's a tantalizing tidbit to entice you to follow up later... Steve Earle may or may not be wandering the fields of Merlefest. The rumor is he and Allison Moorer are an item. I have no clue of the validity of this claim, but someone told it to Stacy. I'm just passing it on. If I see him, I'll be sure to let you know!
Well, they are touring together (http://www.manchesteracademy.net/steveearlealliso.html)...Europe, no less.

Posted by: frank at May 2, 2005 8:30 PMWhile discussing Merlefest with some friends over the weekend, they kept referring to Knoxville as KnoxVegas. I have no clue why - I don't know the story. I see that you have said "KnoxVegas" several times here and am hoping you can tell me or point me in a direction where I can find out why? Thanks for your help.
Posted by: Jason at May 3, 2005 3:43 PMKnoxVegas is just a funny way of referring to my old hometown. The biggest reason to call Knoxville "KnoxVegas" is that it's so UNLIKE Las Vegas that it's comical. Ironic, even. I suppose "NashVegas" is the same.
