Best of 2004
Posted by Larry Karnowski at May 10, 2005 9:59 PMOkay, okay, I'm know I'm really late on this one, but I'm finally getting around to giving you my Best of 2004 list. Believe it or not, I've actually had this list all put-together since the end of January, but I just haven't had time to get it on the site. (Okay, I'll be honest -- since the beginning of February. I'm a slacker.)
This list is quite a bit different from my Best of Year lists in the past. I've always given you my top 20 or 25 favorite CDs of the year. I was looking at this around New Year's though, and I really couldn't sort out my favorite CDs of 2004. It just wasn't a very good CD year. I listened to tons of music and lots of new bands, but I didn't buy as many CDs.
What was going on? I had to think a little bit to figure it out. In a nutshell, the iTunes Music Store happened. I bought more songs last year than ever before, but not albums. There were lots of great songs last year, and so I decided to give you, Casey Kasem style, the Top 30 Songs of 2004. Why only top 30? I guess I'm not as pretentious as Mr. Kasem!
