Best of 2004, #19: Broken Light by Ware River Club
Posted by Larry Karnowski at June 28, 2005 11:00 AMWare River Club was a discovery by my friend James who threatened me again and again until I listened to them, and boy I was glad I did. These guys have an Americana rock sound to them reminiscent of the Wallflowers, Counting Crows, and the Jayhawks. This song, Broken Light, is a slow ballad with sweeping electric guitars, droning background keyboards, and sweet, light mandolin fills. It's definitely a successor to the Wallflowers' One Headlight. If you dig that song, then you should definitely check this one out.
"Cause I'm crazy 'bout the notion,
that you and I ain' livin' right..."
God I love that line.
