If it's not Scottish...

Posted by Larry Karnowski at July 8, 2005 7:21 AM

Hey y'all, I'm heading out to Grandfather Mountain this weekend to see the Highland Games there, a celebration of Scottish Highland culture -- especially music. I should have some pictures and a write-up for you next week, so check back! It'll be cool to see the "other" side of Americana music -- get some Celtic flair. (And I want to see that sheepherding competition and dudes flipping telephone poles too... oh yeah.)

hey Larry,
I used to date a girl who was a tenor drummer in the Grandfather mountain Bagpipe band, so I went to many of the scottish fests up there. How was it this year? The meat pies are good. and I love bagpipes, I don't care what anyone says. And did you notice the drumbeat the bands play is actually sort of a very swing/funk kind of rhythm?
Take care,
Kurt
