It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of that native Virginian turned Knoxvillian, Scott Miller. I even forgive him working on the Blue Collar TV show, I mean hell! A brother's gotta eat! And someone's gotta bring some class to it!

But seriously, Scott Miller is the most literate yet down-to-earth artist out there right now. Well, hmmm, he might be a close second only to Gillian Welch, and I consider that amazingly high praise.

I've gotten so used to Scott's acoustic solo shows and his electric Commonwealth shows kicking my ass so much, I just take em for granted now. Sad to say. But I was seriously not disappointed on Friday night. That boy can rock.

I love the crowd at the Scott Miller shows too. You get to see folks again and again and make new friends. I don't think there's any other band that I see so many repeat offenders at their shows. Tift shows and Thad shows pull a similar crowd each time, but there's usually a pretty big turnover, with only a few familiar faces each time. The Scott Miller shows, though, is like watching a show with lots of your friends all together. It's great fun! It seems the North Carolina contingent of the Scott Miller fanbase is pretty militant. That's why I love this style of music...

And yes, I was the guy that let the drunk married girl dance with him. Yes I knew she was married. Yes I knew she was drunk. I was just in too good of a mood not to dance! That was me. And her hubby didn't mind. Well, I don't think! God bless you, John Courage!

Count me among the Scott Miller fans. Caught him and Tim Easton at 3rd and Lindsley the first night Sharon and I were in Nashville. Great time.

I've never seen him live, but he's pretty close to the top of the list of folks I'd *like* to see. I do have (thanks to Sean and Sharon) his live "R U W/Me?" CD, which I listen to all the time. Maybe I can find some drunk married person to dance with next time I listen to it and kind of pretend it's the real thing. :)

For those not fortunate enough to have seen a live Scott Miller show, or for those who have and still can't get enough, someone has been kind enough to post a couple of live shows on the Archive.org site. Go here to check it out:

One is with the Commonwealth and one is solo. Both are definitely worth a listen. Larry, you can even get a version of "I've Been Drunk All Around This Town".

Love Scott Miller - first heard him on Folk Alley a few months ago, and I've been a fan ever since.
