Inventor of Moog Synthesizer Dies

Posted by Larry Karnowski at August 23, 2005 9:30 AM

Robert Moog, inventor of the Moog synthesizers, passed away last Sunday. It's not Americana music, but these synthesizers left their unique mark on Abbey Road among tons of others.

I'm gonna go plug in some Farewell to Kings by Rush in his honor. Ah... Rush.

Sure Moog is Americana - Steve Earle uses synthesizers a lot (bagpipe effect on Copperhaed Road comes to mind)and a lot of other artists use effects to some level or other.

Shame about Robert, he was such a brilliant, modest man, with so many great ideas. We're losing so many talented people this year - or perhaps I'm just "of an age" where my heroes start shuffling off.
