The drama, the glamour, the total lack of TV coverage ...
Posted by Stacy Chandler at August 31, 2005 1:57 AMI admit it: I'm a sucker for awards shows. The Americana Music Association awards will be given out next week, and the International Bluegrass Music association just announced its nominees for the IBMA its awards, to be given out in late October.
Oh man, what am I gonna wear on the red carpet? And will Game and 50 Cent continue their feud at the IBMAs (and is Fat Joe going to get in this or not)? Will Diddy bestow his best-dressed award to Ricky Skaggs? Or will Jerry Douglas come through with the upset this year? Stay tuned ...
We don't have enough organized crime figures involved yet to rate network TV coverage for Americana.
Give us time for a few more drug busts and murders, we'll get there.

Posted by: larry at August 31, 2005 2:17 PMBelieve me, I'm doin' my best to scout out the dregs and pull them in.
I figure what we need is a good radio station fistfight or two. USA Today would be on that like a pig on a copperhead.
God help us if we just go around doing nice things and bein' polite to each other like a bunch of Folkies.
Posted by: Jim Pipkin at August 31, 2005 2:37 PMThere will be some TV coverage, though not live. That way if any of us throw up in the aisle, you won't get to see it.
Here's a quote from the AMA site:
"The two-hour event will be telecast nationally September 26 at 8pm ET and 11pm ET on Scripps Networks' Great American Country (GAC) as part of "Americana Music Month," and also will be broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio. There also will be broadcasts on Sirius Satellite Radio and on BBC Radio 2. The 4th Annual Honors & Awards are produced by Tamara Saviano and directed by Paul Whitfield."
