Shave and a haircut ... too much?
Posted by Stacy Chandler at September 27, 2005 7:46 AMOK, I'm so sorry to plop this on top of Amanda's excellent manifesto -- which you must skip down and read immediately -- but I simply must bring this to your attention right now.
Yeah, that's what I saw when I opened up the liner notes booklet in the new Ryan Adams CD. Can we get this man to a barber please? Stat!
Also in my liner notes was this:
Cool, huh? It's the lyrics. In Japanese. I can't read it either, but I can't help but think somewhere they snuck in a little commentary, maybe something along the lines of "Let's enjoy listen with hairy wolfman OK!"
I haven't even listened to the CD yet, but I had to react right away to warn my Stateside pals just in case someone accidentally opens up the CD case and sees that photo over breakfast. Pleah. Aussie and other international readers, I'm sorry. I'm too late to save you. Be strong.
Americana UK - gives a 9 out of 10
Rollingstone 3-1/2 Stars
Would love to hear a Hickorywind rating.
I have it on good authority that there will be a review right here by Thursday, so sit tight!
Posted by: stacy at September 27, 2005 9:18 AMHmmm. Actually I kinda like that picture. Except for the glasses.
I read he does a version of "Always on My Mind." Can't wait.
Not on the American version I bought today at Borders. Oh well...
Posted by: larry at September 27, 2005 4:50 PMFurther Googling suggests it is one of the bonus tracks, also included on the UK version.
Posted by: Amanda at September 27, 2005 6:14 PMIt's on the Japan version, too! iTunes was offering it as a bonus if you pre-ordered "Jacksonville City Nights" from them. Not sure if you can get from iTunes now, though, since the time for pre-ordering obviously has passed.
Posted by: Stacy at September 27, 2005 9:41 PMIt's on the Australian version too. Checked it out in town today, but didn;t buy. Perhaps next week.
Posted by: Amanda at September 28, 2005 4:42 AMI am weak!
Couldn't wait for you guys to review, went home via HMV last night and got me a copy.
UK release has bonus tracks Always On My Mind and Jeane.
Wow, color me "getting really tired of hearing about bonus tracks I don't have." It's kind of a puice-looking color. As in, "it's really puicing me off to hear about it." Stop. Please, just stop.
Posted by: larry at September 28, 2005 11:19 AMDon't read my post on Monday, then, Lar. :)
