Happy Halloween! In case you don't get enough goodies trick-or-treating, head to your favorite (independent, if you can!) record store and pick up "For a Decade of Sin: 11 Years of Bloodshot Records." With two discs, 42 songs (all new and/or unreleased) and a 24-page booklet, it's a celebration of Bloodshot artists that run the spectrum from punk to blues to alt-country. With artists like Sixteen Horsepower, Ralph Stanley, My Morning Jacket, Old 97's, Hank III, the Bottle Rockets and the Waco Brothers, your sweet tooth should be satisfied.

Another goodie: Amazon.com (not at all indie, I know, but God bless 'em they're cheap sometimes!) is selling the amazingly ass-kicking "Garden State" soundtrack for $9.99. If you don't already have it, do yourself a favor and order it. It's better than candy.
