Wish I didn't hear that
Posted by Stacy Chandler at February 5, 2006 8:38 AMYou know, this whole lawsuit against Apple for its iPod's potential to make you go deaf is the second-stupidest thing I've ever heard (the first-stupidest, of course, being R.Kelly's "hip-hopera" "Trapped in the Closet"). Uh, yeah, your iPod will make you go deaf if you listen to it turned up to 11 for eight hours a day. Also, if you roll around in razor blades and then take a bath in lemon juice, it's gonna sting. Better sue Gillette and all lemon farmers just to cover that base, too!
Ya know, I read the article thinking I'd find some little shred of evidence which might suggest that Apple had actually done something illegal, or even criminally/civilly wrong -- but yeah, you're right, that's definitely one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. [At least the woman who sued McDonald's for hot coffee had something of a case since she couldn't control the temperature of the cofee, but anyone ought to know when to turn down their headphones (i.e., your ears begin bleeding).]
Posted by: Chris at February 5, 2006 10:50 AMNo, the first stupidest thing was when some other loser tried to sue Sony when the Walkman made him deaf. The technology gets improved but the people listening don't change (well not enough do anyway)
Posted by: Uncle Tom at February 6, 2006 12:45 PMMy husband sent me the Apple lawsuit news a few days ago and I was inspired to look up the awards for stupid consumer warning labels. Our favourite one is: A digital thermometer that can be used to take a person's temperature several different ways warns: "Once used rectally, the thermometer should not be used orally."
