And the award for most suckage goes to ...

The nominations for the CMT awards are out, and I'm just dee-fucking-lighted to see that "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" stands to get the accolades it deserves.

In a quote from an Associated Press story that pretty much sums up the state of popular country music entirely, Badonkadonk ar-teest Trace Adkins says of hearing the song's demo for the first time:

"It was a no-brainer for me, I knew right away that I wanted to cut it," he said. "I played it for my 4-year-old, and she liked it, too, which is always a good sign."

Ah, I see.

The CMT awards -- which judge videos, mind you, not songs or albums --are awarded on the basis of votes for the nominees, so be sure to visit the Web site to vote for your faves. If, that is, you like being confronted with choices on the pain-caliber of: "Would I rather be smashed in the face repeatedly with a brick or be covered in syrup and dropped onto a fire-ant hill?" Brooks & Dunn or Toby Keith? Hmmm. I'll take the ants, please.

Thanks Mr. Adkins. Now its a "no-brainer" for all of us. Thanks for that!

On a serious note, I do believe that the 4-year-old girl demographic is WAY too often overlooked in today's music business. How can the music industry continue to ignore this important slice of the minivan-riding population and expect to be around in 10 years? I call for more 4-year-old girl focus groups. We must take advantage of this market niche!

I fear they have already been snapped up by the Hip-Hop marketing folks.

The Aging Hipster has no idea what you are talking about, why you are talking about it or why you are even aware of it.
