Rock 'n' Soul king Solomon Burke recording an album with Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris and Buddy Miller. Burke had a deserved and long overdue career revival with the Joe Henry produced Don't Give Up On Me a few years back and I had the great joy of seeing him live in 2005. Still grinning from that one. He did have a little success on the country charts in the 1960s and can make you melt in any language, soul, rock, country, pop, r&b.
Seriously, Rest Of The Musical World: you've got 'til September to really come up with something special or concede 2006 to this glorious collaboration.
AGHH!!! I'm so freakin' excited! Solomon Burke snacks on whole chickens and makes me wish that I was born a large black man so I could credibly sing along to Don't Give Up On Me and Cry To Me. Playing with Gillian Welch whose version of Black Star makes me moan and weep? I'll probably implode when I hear this album.
