CATCHING UP

Posted by Stacy Chandler at May 22, 2006 8:29 AM

All right, haters. I was on vacation and missed several weeks of new releases lists, and by gum you would've slacked on your blogging duties, too, had you been without barbecue, Arby's, Chik-Fil-A, Krispy Kreme and Sonic for more than a year and then had to choose between pigging out and writing. Like me, you would've been several pounds heavier and several posts behind.

But now that I'm back in home-sweet-Tokyo, I see no reason we can't catch up. Some releases from the past several weeks that you might have missed:

May 2:
The Black Keys -- Chulahoma [EP] (Fat Possum)
Alejandro Escovedo -- Boxing Mirror (Back Porch)
Gomez -- How We Operate (ATO)
Glen Phillips -- Mr. Lemons (High Wire Music)

May 9:
Neil Young -- Living With War (Reprise/WEA)
Kieran Kane/Kevin Welch/Fats Kaplin -- Lost John Dean (Compass)
Yonder Mountain String Band -- Yonder Mountain String Band (Vanguard)
Jolie Holland -- Springtime Can Kill You (Anti)
Casey Driessen -- 3D (Sugar Hill)
Chris Isaak -- Best of Chris Isaak (Reprise/WEA)
Red Hot Chili Peppers -- Stadium Arcadium (Warner Bros.)
Paul Simon -- Surprise (Warner Bros.)
Snow Patrol -- Eyes Open (A&M)

May 16:
Fred Eaglesmith -- Milly's Cafe (Aml)
T-Bone Burnett -- True False Identity (Sony)
Tim Easton -- Ammunition (New West)
The Raconteurs --Broken Boy Soldiers (V2)

And, of course, tomorrow's new releases already have been listed here.

Since I'm listing these releases in hindsight, I have the luxury of making you, the HickoryWind.org reader, do my dirty work. Any gems among May's releases? Any duds? Anything I overlooked (if so, I plead jet lag)? Guide us, won't you? To the comments!
