Second and Third Tragedies of Bonnaroo 2006

Posted by Larry Karnowski at June 14, 2006 7:05 AM

Well, the first is that I'm so busy this week with "real work" and preparing for this festival, that I won't have time to write a real blog post this week. So here's one I'm just slapping together.

And secondly (which is the third tragedy), is that in the previous post, Stacy wrote something that might make you have a mental image of me throwing my "undies" at Radiohead. Sorry all. Tragic.

So anyway, as I head out there this weekend, I'm hoping to post an article or two from my phone. However, I'm hearing that cell service is pretty weak to nonexistent, so don't hold your breath. I'll post when I can.

Some things to see this weekend -- Radiohead, Beck, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, Son Volt, Steve Earle, Dr. John, and on and on. (Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and on and on...) I'm hoping to find some folks to jam with too in the camping area. If your jam needs a fiddle, flag me down somehow out of the 80,000 freaking people. Whoa. Does anyone else see that number and start to feel a little agoraphobia coming on? Ick.

Only 80,000 folks. That is still not as many as at a Tennessee football game in Neyland Stadium on a Saturday afternoon in the fall. You should be able to handle it okay.

Good point, Frank! I was also thinking that 80,000 is about the number Merlefest has been hitting the past few years. I think that's an all-weekend total, but I'd be willing to bet about 90 percent of those are at the fest on Saturday by late afternoon, so just think of it that way. Psh. You can do eet.
