New releases: Aug. 1, 2006

Well.
Somehow on last week's list I managed to overlook the new release from Tom Petty. Not that you hadn't already heard about "Highway Companion," released July 25 on American, from a million other sources, but still. That's embarrassing. A thousand apologies.
Good thing I had Mr. Petty to help me flesh out this week's list, however. Seems that it's just too goddamn hot to release very many records this week. Here are some brave souls who are trying anyway ...
New releases out Tuesday, Aug. 1:
G. Love -- Lemonade (Brushfire)
Ollabelle -- Riverside Battle Songs (Verve Forecast)
Kelly Joe Phelps -- Tunesmith Retrofit (Rounder)
Y'all stay cool, now (shouldn't be a problem for our friends Down Under ...).
I can help expand this week's list (Petty is real good, by the way), but only by one: Charlie Sexton and Shannon McNally's Southside Sessions EP will be released on Tuesday.
