Carrie Rodriguez -- Seven Angels on a Bicycle (Back Porch)
What? They're not on a plane? Too bad. You've heard Rodriguez on two stellar CDs with Chip Taylor, now hear her sassy vocals and sizzling fiddle in the spotlight.
Paul Burch -- East to West (Bloodshot)
various artists -- Snakes on a Plane: The Album (New Line)
Yes, I was serious. The soundtrack features today's hottest, um, acts, like Fall Out Boy. And Panic at the Disco. And whoever else is popular ... this week.
The Damnwells -- Air Stereo (Zoe)
Maria Muldaur -- Heart of Mine: Love Songs of Bob Dylan (Telarc)
Pete Droge -- Under the Waves (Puzzle Tree)
Rory Block -- Lady and Mr. Johnson (Rykodisc)
The blueslady does an album of Robert Johnson songs ... fully sanctioned by Johnson's family.
That's a pretty meagre list there, I guess the dog days get to everyone. At least I won't be spending more money I don't have on cd's this week.

The music biz owes us a break (though I'm way too tempted by Carrie Rodriguez and the Damnwells to really call it a break) this year, dangit. 2006 has been brutal on the ol' bank account.
Also? September is going to be insane. I should just start learning to go without food now.

Old Crow Medicine Show soon, though I can't remember if that's late August or early September. Yeah.
