New ISP and Mr. Tweedy

Posted by Larry Karnowski at August 16, 2006 2:30 PM

So I've picked the new Internet service provider to host our own blessed HickoryWind.org. I've signed up, and I'm making plans to move over, but I haven't gotten that much done yet. I expect it will take a month or so to get everything cleaned up and ready to move. I'll keep you in the loop.

Where are we moving to? Well, for the geeky amongst you, you might be interested to know that we're moving to TextDrive, a very hip ISP that is where all the cool kids hang out. Well, we're cool kids, right? So we're headed that way. I think these folks "get" Internet hosting better than the other places I've looked, and they're deeply entrenched in the Open Source and Web 2.0 movements. For example, part of the money HickoryWind.org pays to be hosted there will go to support the very cool Ruby On Rails open source software.

Alright, enough geekiness for the moment. More important news -- I'm going to see Jeff Tweedy for the first time ever tonight! He's playing a solo gig, presumably acoustic, at the North Carolina Museum of Art! Woot! I'll let you know how it went.

Hey, I'm going too! Look for me with the two hot tattooed chicks in tube tops and the kid reading about Python.
