Whole Lotta Jerry Lee Goin' On
Posted by James Goodfellow at September 13, 2006 4:29 PMIt's been a very Jerry Lee week for me...and that's a good thing. First, I got my hands on his recently released box set - A Half Century of Hits released by Time Life. Wow, what a fantastic collection of music. Not only does it cover his early Sun days in Memphis, but it also takes a long look at his extensive Country music career through the 60s and 70s.
Then, today, as I'm preparing another post for HW, I came across this article about an upcoming duets album by the Killer - his first new release in more than a decade. The album - Last Man Standing - releases near the end of the month and features 21 duets with artists such as Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen and George Jones.
I'm glad to see the man is still kicking around. I've been a big fan of Jerry Lee for awhile now, and while I'm slightly leery about the star-studded duets album, I'm betting he can pull it off.
I was listening to that boxed set the other day, and I was really amazed at the number of Country songs he did -- good Country too. I thought he was just a hellacious Rockabilly rocker, evidently he was a heckuva kicker too. I recommend!
