September ain't letting up, folks. If you have any money left over after last week, here are some new CDs that change all that.

New releases for the week of Sept. 19, 2006:
The Avett Brothers -- The Gleam (Ramseur)
There hasn't been an adjective made yet to describe the greatness of the Avett Brothers. This release -- only six songs long, so I'm not sure whether it's classified as album or EP -- sounds mighty, mighty good from the few tracks I've heard so far (some of which ring a bell from their live shows). And, I mean, it's the Avett Brothers, so it's going to rule. Duh.
Jim Lauderdale -- Bluegrass (Yep Roc)
Jim Lauderdale -- Country Super Hits, Vol.1 (Yep Roc)
Ben Kweller -- Ben Kweller (Red Ink)
Indigo Girls -- Despite Our Differences (Hollywood)
The Black Crowes -- Freak N Roll Into the Fog (Eagle)
A 2-CD live set recorded last year at the Fillmore.
Chris Smither -- Leave the Light On (Signature)
Neko Case -- Live from Austin, TX (New West)
The String Cheese Incident -- Live from Austin, TX (New West)
You know the drill by now -- each "Live from Austin, TX" release is an artists greatest moments from "Austin City Limits" performances.
Woven Hand -- Mosaic (Sounds Familyre)
Woven Hand is the solo work of David Eugene Edwards -- former frontman for 16 Horsepower.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy -- The Letting Go (Drag City)
Jonny Lang -- Turn Around (A&M)
Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands -- Golden West (Hightone)
Joseph Arthur -- Nuclear Daydream (Megaforce)

And then ... and then (as it that weren't enough), there are some tasty reissues, too. I speak of the Pogues -- all five of their studio albums -- and I speak of Doc and Merle Watson's "Black Mountain Rag."

Hang in there, folks. September's halfway through -- though unfortunately (but secretly fortunately) it looks like the rest of the months in this year aren't going to go much easier on us music lovers. Sigh.
