New releases: Nov. 3, 2006
Posted by Stacy Chandler at November 3, 2006 7:48 AMWell, I looked high and low, but I just couldn't find any new releases next week to get excited about. So you're off the hook. Take that $15 you were going to blow on a CD and buy yourself something pretty instead, y'hear?
Wow, you think they're taking a deep breath before the Christmas rush?
Posted by: larry at November 3, 2006 8:15 AMI can think of two:
Bonnie Raitt and Friends (although her friends leave me underwhelmed mostly)
and Eric Clapton and JJ Cale -- Road to Escondido
Posted by: Amanda at November 3, 2006 7:28 PMThanks, Amanda! Those are already out in the States, I believe, but I guess they're just now releasing Down Under. Don't be mad, though -- Kasey Chambers made us yanks wait for her new CD, and Damien Rice and Sarah Harmer did, too.
I should note that I always do these lists for US releases. Not because I don't love other countries, but because one time I tried doing separate lists for US, UK, Australia and elsewhere and ended up crumpled under my desk crying snotty tears. Too complicated for my wee brain. So yes, anytime anyone sees some non-US releases I've missed, please let us know here in the comments!
Posted by: stacy at November 5, 2006 6:38 AMHmmm. I was going by the release dates listed at Amazon ...
Posted by: Amanda at November 6, 2006 10:54 PMBonnie Raitt and Friends has an August release date listed on the American version of Amazon. But I think Amazon is different in each country (I know UK and Japan have their own Amazons, anyway). There's an "import" version of the same CD listed on US Amazon with a Oct. 31 release date, so maybe that's the Aussie version? Confusing.
I stand waaaay corrected on the Clapton/Cale, though. Looks like that's Nov. 7 here, too, so would definitely have been worth a mention. Thanks for getting my back on that!
Posted by: stacy at November 7, 2006 10:24 PMI'm getting Gob Iron - Death Songs for the Living tomorrow. Also, a new Clarence White Flatpicking cd set is coming out from Sierra Records this week. I've got Neil Young and Crazy Horse Live at the Fillmore East 1970 on pre-order.. Yep, I'm pretty excited!
