Happy Thanksgiving
Posted by Sean Moores at November 23, 2006 6:47 AMHappy Thanksgiving, all you HW readers in Americanaland and around the world. Larry, aka, The Blogfather, has a no-holiday policy, so I won't be writing a proper post. But as your regular Thursday contributor, I just wanted to acknowledge how fortunate I feel to be part of this online community. I think I can safely speak for the others in that regard.
I'll be spending the holiday with my people, and I hope you'll be doing the same. Here are a few songs I might listen to before the day is out, though some of them relate to Turkey Day in title alone:
Harvest - Neil Young
Thanksgiving Day - Ray Davies
I Am a Pilgrim - Kentucky Colonels
The Pilgrim, Chapter 33 - Kris Kristofferson (this one really doesn't have anything to do with Thanksgiving, but I am thankful for Kristofferson's body of work)
In all seriousness, I've got a lot to be thankful for. My family, for starters. My friends. My fellow authors on HickoryWind and the regular as well as infrequent visitors. We're all lucky to have music.
There are an awful lot of people who don't have it as well. If you have an opportunity, try to do something for those folks. A lot of grocery stores make it easier than ever to help with canned food drives and the like.
Finally, there are an awful lot of folks in the military who are deployed and away from their families. I'll be sending them a good thought as I reflect today on all that I'm fortunate enough to have.
I've already gone on longer than I intended with this holiday greeting. Stay safe. Be well. See you next Thursday.
