Not Much Is A-Changin'

Forty-two years after its release, Bob Dylan's album "The Times They Are A-Changin'" is still influencing other musicians. Rightfully so; it's a timeless classic. Apparently, so is its cover. I've run across three albums in my travels this year that have "Times"-inspired looks. And they were released within four months of each other. As a refresher, or an introduction for those not familiar with Dylan or this album, here's the original cover, from 1964:

Here's singer-songwriter Mark Erelli's "Hope and Other Casualties," which came out on March 7:

And The Rosewood Thieves' "From the Decker House" EP, released on July 23:

And, finally, Ramblin' Jack Elliott's "I Stand Alone," from July 11 of this year:

Elliott's cover is, as you can see, the least like Dylan's cover, but it definitely is inspired by the earlier work. I'd dare say that Dylan borrowed more than a little from Ramblin' Jack early in his career, and now he's just taking a little bit back.

Quite a coincidence, and those are just the three I've seen. Have I missed any?

Wow, that's crazy! Good eye, Sean. I'm going home tonight and pulling out all my CDs to look for more matches. Wheeeeee!
