Podcast: The Avett Brothers - If It's The Beaches
Posted by Larry Karnowski at January 2, 2007 10:00 PMThis week I play the beautiful and haunting ballad "If It's The Beaches" from the Avett Brother's late-2006 album, "The Gleam." This was my number one favorite song from 2006, and I'm very proud to be able to play it for you!
We'll be back on our normal weekly podcast schedule next week when I start posting on Monday nights again. (Now that we're finally past the Holiday season!) Please check them out!
As always, you can subscribe to the podcast with the links on the sidebar, or you can directly download the MP3.
Del Reeves passed away on New Year's - there's a bummer. He'd been ill for awhile. Another North Carolina farm boy gone!
Posted by: Jim Pipkin at January 3, 2007 8:42 AMOooh, exciting! I love this song (and the entire "Gleam" EP). I kind of hate the little answering machine interlude, but otherwise the song is just wonderful.
Posted by: stacy at January 3, 2007 11:18 PMHoly shiite, that's a doozy. I will be purchasing this song rightthisverysecond.
Posted by: valerie at January 5, 2007 7:47 PMOkay, I've listened to this song approximately 247 times now, and it drives me insane that they play that infernal answering machine part over that nice fiddle in the middle.
Posted by: valerie at January 6, 2007 7:07 PMthe sound clip from the answering machine makes the song more powerful on cd if you ask me. its a unique way of saying to the listener that the words they sing are real and not just some made up petty crap to impress people.
