New releases: Jan. 9, 2007

Oh, lookie here! The music industry has woken up from its eggnog hangover (I know, I know -- those hurt) and is cranking out little flat discs of temptation once again.

But they're starting out easy on us, with just one release worth mentioning here. But it's a goodie. Erin McKeown, with a little help from Nettwerk, will grace us with "Sing You Sinners" next Tuesday. If you're not familiar with McKeown, you really outta change that. She's jazzy and quirky, she can rock and she can break your heart with some of the most beautiful melodies (and lyrics!) you could ask for. It's barely into the new year, and already I'm seeing a possible 2007 best-of contender.

Dammitall, I was hoping the 2007 list would be easier than 2006's. Now I'm getting worried already.
