New releases ... or not

Meantime, some news:
FINAL FLIGHT
Former Flying Burrito Brother Sneaky Pete Kleinow has died from Alzheimer's complications. I knew, of course, of his FBB pedal steel achievements -- and that he possessed one of the coolest nicknames ever -- but apparently that's only part of the story. He also was an animator, special-effects artist and director. Read all about it here.
APPLES AND ORANGES
If you hadn't heard (and I hadn't), there's a new festival in the lineup: Stagecoach, held in California May 5-6, at the same site as Coachella, the weekend after. At first I scoffed at the lineup -- Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, George Strait. But amid all the chaff is some mighty fine wheat: Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson, Neko Case, Robert Earl Keen, Earl Scruggs, Nickel Creek, Emmylou Harris, Junior Brown, Drive-by Truckers, Marty Stuart, the Del McCoury Band, and Alejandro Escovedo, to name several. Seems like a weird mix of mainstream and Americana, but I'd sure as hell like to be on hand to see how it all goes down.
