All right, the holidays are over -- face it. You've been working five-day weeks, of all things. Sucks, I know.

But the good news is the music biz is back in full swing, too, and the list of eeeeenteresting new releases next week is long (and chock full o' Merlefest artists!), so let's get right to it.

New releases for week of Jan. 23, 2007:
Norman Blake, Nancy Blake and Tut Taylor -- Shacktown Road (Dualtone)
Peter Rowan and Tony Rice -- Quartet (Rounder)
Bassist Bryn Davies and mandolinist Sharon Gilchrist chime in to make it a quartet. Lots of Rowan songs here, including an eight-minute "Moonlight Midnight" cover plus some kick-ass covers, including Townes Van Zandt's "To Live Is To Fly."
Tony Trischka -- Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular (Rounder)
The Shins -- Wincing the Night Away (Sub Pop)
Tony Furtado -- Thirteen (Funzalo)
The Grateful Dead -- Live at the Cow Palace: New Year's Eve 1976 (Rhino)
Kristin Hersh -- Learn To Sing Like A Star (Yep Roc)
John Not Cougar Mellencamp -- Freedom's Road (Hip-O)
Moe. -- The Conch (Fat Boy)
Of Montreal -- Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? (Polyvinyl)
Kenny Wayne Shepherd -- 10 Days Out (Blues From the Backroad) [CD/documentary DVD](Reprise/WEA)
Paul Weller -- Hit Parade (Yep Roc)
You Am I -- Convicts (Yep Roc)
Ed Pettersen -- The New Punk Blues (Split Rock/Emergent)
