"adult head"

What ever happened to "adult head", the collection of Jeff Tweedy's poetry I picked up for my wife when we attended a Tweedy solo show at the Raleigh Art Museum this past summer? To be honest, I didn't have high expectations and viewed it as a "souvenir purchase".

Buried on a bookshelf, never read, I found the thin volume. I picked it up, perhaps inspired by rumors of a new Wilco disc this spring. Unfortunately the poems read more like a schoolboy's attempt at stream-of-consciousness rock-n-roll Bukowskian extended haiku. What might work as song lyrics often doesn't work as poetry. It didn't do it for me but it might work for you if you're a hardcore Wilco/Tweedy fan. If you're interested you can pick up a used copy for about $10 at abebooks.com.

Here's a poem I would recommend (WARNING: no Americana connection):
Mona Van Duyn's "Letters from a Father". Enjoy!
