James McMurtry

"James McMurtry: Americana Masters Series - The Best Of The Sugar Hill Years" will be released on March 13th. I find it ironic that a label dumps an artist and then issues a 12 track "best of disc" from his three disc catalog a few years later. According to McMurtry, in 2004 Sugar Hill wouldn't put out his live album so they parted company. I'd agree with the title, McMurtry is an Americana Master. Why didn't Sugar Hill put out his live disc and keep him on their roster?

Why is Sugar Hill leaving North Carolina, where a large percentage of their artists live, to move to Nashville? Go figure.

Sugar Hill already has had a satellite office in Nashville for 6-7 years already.

Also, there are just a handful of North Carolina natives on the roster at the moment. To say "a large percentage" of their artists are North Carolinian is inaccurate.
