New releases, the DIY edition
Posted by Stacy Chandler at May 4, 2007 11:25 PMIn case anyone was fretting (and I *do* detect some hand-wringing out there!), the Friday new releases list will be back. Soon. Not like "today" soon, but definitely like "next week" soon. Which is kind of soon. Ish. I've been on a whirlwind tour of the U.S. of A., and away from computers for the most part. Which makes things like blogging (and keeping up with trashy celebrity gossip, but I digress)difficult. But I'll be back in the saddle next week, buckaroos. So in the meantime just go to the record store and see what happens.
A couple of ones to note:
- Mike Marshall and Darol Anger put together some recordings they are calling "Woodshop"...should be interesting
- Radiohead released a collection of live recordings and b-sides they are calling Com Lag...I really tried to get into these guys, but I guess I just don't get it
- And of course, the biggest release of the week (drum roll......) Paula Abdul Greatest Hits! I can hear the screams of delight from here...
Id like to say hi as I just found hickorywind.org via freight train boogie! Ive been reading some of the posts and they been keeping entertained for the past hour! As for Radiohead -- Im with you on that one dude, just cant get into them myself either! And Paula abdul Greatest hits!.....why!!?
Nice to be here!

Posted by: Peter at May 7, 2007 7:34 PMWaylon, thanks for the update! (And did you check out my Radiohead 101 I posted last year? They're absolutely one of my all-time favorite bands!)
Peter, welcome aboard! Regarding the Paula Abdul, well, you just gotta know Waylon! ;-)
Posted by: larry at May 7, 2007 8:52 PMDon't forget the new Ryan Adams CD coming out on 6/26 named "Easy Tiger." Here's a little taste from the Henry Rollins show. "Goodnight Rose" is the name of this tune and it absolutely ROCKS:

Posted by: Rage at May 7, 2007 10:07 PMYep...even with your Radiohead 101 lesson, buying 3 of their albums, and hearing them from a distance at Bonnaroo, I just can't listen to them without wiggling in my chair after about 2 minutes. It's not that I think they "suck" or anything like that, I just flat don't get it. It's kind of like Wilco, there are a few Wilco songs that I absolutely love, but a lot of it just sounds like noise to me. Oh, and Peter, on the Paula Abdul thing...let's just say if you had a slice of bread you could spread the sarcasm on it like peanut butter :)
