Quote for the day (and some trivia too!)
Posted by Hal Bogerd at May 23, 2007 9:17 PM"A pamphlet, no matter how good, is never read more than once. But a song is learned by heart and repeated over and over."
Joe Hill/American songwriter.
"I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night" was written by Hayes/Robinson.
The song was reworked into "I Dreamed I Saw Phil Ochs Last Night" by Billy Bragg.
Phil Ochs used the above quote in the liner notes of "I Ain't Marching Anymore".
If you aren't familiar with Phil Ochs music you should be. Unfairly viewed as a second-rate Dylan, his folk/protest music from 40 years ago is as timely today as it was then.
"It's always the old to lead us to the war
It's always the young to fall
Now look at all we've won with the saber and the gun
Tell me is it worth it all"
Phil Ochs/I Ain't Marching Anymore
"Tape From California" was his masterwork, tho.
