Carolina Chocolate Drops on Prairie Home Companion
Posted by Hal Bogerd at May 29, 2007 8:34 PMLifted from an email I received from CCD:
"We have just learned that we will performing on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor! We'll be taping the show at the Starlight Theater on June 22nd at 8PM in Kansas City, MO and it will air on June 23rd, 6pm Eastern! The show is heard on over 580 public radio stations across the country with over 4 million listeners each week. We are very excited about this opportunity and hope you can tune in."
My commentary: If you aren't familiar with the Carolina Chocolate Drops go to their website and give a listen. Better yet, buy a two copies of their disc. One for yourself and one to give it to a friend who can't shut up about Springsteen's "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions".
PHC plays in Japan, too, on U.S. military radio stations -- so I'll be listening, too! The Carolina Chocolate Drops rocked Merlefest big time, so I'm definitely ready to hear more from them.
Posted by: stacy at May 29, 2007 9:21 PMOne of the Drops lives here in town...swung a phone interview once, but he was too distracted for me to do anything worth writing up. Which is actually very cool by me, because I love to see these folks get some recognition and exposure, with all the breakneck pace that entails!
Posted by: Jim Pipkin at May 29, 2007 9:40 PMI'll be hitting FloydFest in Floyd VA at the end of July and the 'Drops are without question on the MUST see list... anyone in the area I suggest checking out the FloydFest action - it's always a great time in a beautiful place with a wonderful vibe and some relatively eclectic musicians all put on by folks who obviously just love, and love sharing, great music and good times.....FloydFest 2007
